Ranking the Top 5 Teams in the ACC

Boston Mountain Publishing, Thursday. November 3, 2022 2:22 PM

We have ranked the Top 5 in the ACC through Week 9 and discuss their outlooks going forward.

ACC TEAM POWER RANKINGS

Heading into Week 10 of the 2022 College Football season, there is 1 team in the Top 5 and 5 teams in the AP Top 25. There is only 1 team that remains in the CFP talks from the ACC.

#5 - NORTH CAROLINA STATE WOLFPACK 6-2

Conference Record: 2-2

Ranked #22 in AP Poll

The Wolfpack had a close game last Thursday night at home against Virginia Tech, winning 22-21. They are 2 and 1 in games decided by 2 points or less this season.

NC State ranks #1 in conference, holding teams to league low 17.4 points per game.

The Wolfpack have some tough games remaining on the schedule, starting this weekend at home against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. This should be a good game to watch Saturday night.

Upcoming Games:

Saturday November 5

Wake Forest

@ NC State

Saturday November 12

#4 - WAKE FOREST DEMON DEACONS 6-2

Conference Record: 2-2

Ranked #21 in AP Poll

QB Sam Hartman ranks 2nd in conference with 2,026 passing yards on the season. He has a completion rate of 63.2 % and has thrown 22 TDs and 6 INTs.

The Demon Deacons are coming off a tough loss on the road against Louisville 48-21, their worst defeat of the year. They look to bounce back against a tough North Carolina State team Saturday night on the road. Repeating from above, this should be a great game this weekend against the Wolfpack and worth a watch.

The Demon Deacons have the toughest schedule remaining in the ACC. Every team is above .500 on the year and each team should get an invite for a post-season bowl game.

Upcoming Games:

Saturday November 5

Wake Forest

@ NC State

Saturday November 12

North Carolina

@ Wake Forest

#3 - SYRACUSE ORANGE 6-2

WR Josh Downs leads the team with 527 receiving yards.

LB Cedric Gray leads the team and is ranked 2nd in the ACC and 11th in the nation with 83 tackles, 10.4 per game.

#1 - CLEMSON TIGERS 8-0

Ranked #4 in CFP and #5 in AP 25

The Clemson defense is leading the conference allowing a league low 88.3 rushing yards per game.

RB Will Shipley leads Clemson and is 3rd in conference with 739 rushing yards on the year.

QB D.J. Uiagalelei ranks #3 in conference passing for 17 TDs on the year.

The path is paved for Clemson to make the College Playoffs if they can continue winning here on out. It starts this weekend with Notre Dame (5-3) on Saturday night.

This weekend's matchup was talked about a lot in the early season. The gold has rubbed off a little in this one, but it should still be a game that the Tigers shouldn't overlook. The Domer's have started to get back to where they left off last year. This past weekend they took down Syracuse on the road and Notre Dame did beat North Carolina earlier in the season on the road.

Upcoming Games:

Saturday November 5

Clemson

@ Notre Dame

Saturday November 12

Louisville

@ Clemson
