Week 2 - Top Game Preview and Predictions
1. Alabama vs Texas
The big game of the week will be Alabama vs Texas in Austin. As this may not be the most competitive game of the weekend, it will give Texas another shot at the best of the SEC. With a national audience there will be plenty of the talking heads to speculate Texas' future when they do enter the SEC in 2025. Big game for Coach Steve Sarkisian and no seats for Alabama fans.
Prediction: Alabama
2. Kentucky vs Florida
One week after a huge win against Utah, the Gators are thrown right back into The Swamp to take on a fierce Kentucky team that has high expectations this year under quarterback Will Levis. Fun game for SEC East fans with early season consequences for the loser.
Prediction: Kentucky
3. Baylor vs BYU
This game is the beginning of a really tough schedule for BYU this year. They are a very good team and should be competitive in each game this year. For Baylor, they will be looking to come in and make a statement in Provo.
Prediction: BYU
4. Tennessee vs Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh will be coming into this one after their emotional and amazing Week 1 game against rival West Virginia. As for Tennessee, they steam rolled Ball State in Week 1 and looked very impressive and better than most teams during Week 1. These teams met up last season in a thriller at Tennessee where the Panthers won 41-36.
Prediction: Tennessee
5. Wake Forest vs Vanderbilt
A team I never thought would make one of my lists after week 0 this season is making their return now. Vanderbilt has started the year 2-0 for the first time since 2018. Vandy will have a chance to pull off a huge upset. Wake Forest just received the good news and QB Sam Hartman will be good to go against Vandy after being injured and missing Week 1.
Prediction: Wake Forest
Sleeper games of week 2
1. Appalachian State vs Texas A&M
After a crazy Week 1 game where App State almost knocked off North Carolina, they will be traveling to play at Texas A&M who had a rough week one to say the least. Texas A&M did not impress anyone with their performance in Week 1. That leads to this game being picked as a sleeper game where the Mountaineers travel to College Station and have an opportunity to upset the Aggies.
Prediction: Texas A&M
2. Houston vs Texas Tech
Houston is coming in after an insane victory in 3 overtimes against UTSA. This should be a great matchup as you have arguably the best Group of 5 team going against a passionate program in Texas Tech.
Prediction: Houston
3. South Carolina vs Arkansas
Spencer Rattler will be getting his first chance to take on a SEC school after transferring from Oklahoma last season. He transferred after his starting spot was taken by now USC QB Caleb Williams. This will be a great environment and a great opening conference matchup between two solid programs in Fayetteville.
Prediction: Arkansas
4. Oregon State vs Fresno State
Dark horse Fresno State is led by a great Quarterback in Jake Haener and is looking to pull off the upset in Corvallis this weekend. This will be a great matchup and should produce some points on both ends.
