Week 6, Top Matchups of the Weekend: Preview and Predictions
A slower week in college football after an absurd amount of Top 25 games last weekend that did not disappoint. This weekend there are many highlighted games, but there are also many games that are flying under the radar which should make this a great weekend with some amazing football.
(8) Tennessee (4-0) @ (25) LSU (4-1) - 12/11:00 (C) ESPN
To kick off the weekend we have a couple of huge games in the morning slate for Saturday. Tennessee will be traveling to take on the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge. Going to Baton Rouge is no easy test no matter how good the LSU team is any year. Tennessee has been on a tear this season, but they are still being questioned on how legit they are in the national perspective. A loss here for the Tigers could ruin their season and make them look more of a pretender. A Tennessee win could launch quarterback Hendon Hooker to the front of the Heisman leaderboards.
Prediction - LSU
(17) TCU (4-0) @ (19) Kansas (5-0) - 12/11:00(c) FS1
Kansas has had their most historic year this season since 2007 where the Jayhawks came up just short of a chance at the title game. TCU has surprised so many people this year, so this game is two teams that were nowhere close to being ranked in the preseason. After some quality wins for both teams to date, this will be the game of the week in college football. Look for standout quarterback Jaydon Daniels to make a huge impact on this game. It's hard to pick against the Jayhawks this season so until they prove me wrong that's where I'm going.
Prediction - Kansas
(11) Utah (4-1) @ (18) UCLA (5-0) - 3:30/2:30(c) FOX
After getting upset in Gainesville to kick off the year the Utes have been on a revenge tour as they continue to climb up the rankings. Another team with little to no expectations coming into the year, UCLA is now 5-0 and makes this game critical in the Pac 12 title implications. The biggest story in this game is going to be, can UCLA stay on this path and enter the CFB Playoff Race? With the Utes having their first chance to really prove something since Week 1, I am going to assume they are fired up and ready to win this game.
Prediction - Utah
Washington State (4-1) @ (6) USC (5-0) - 7:30/6:30(c) FOX
All season Washington State has put people on upset watch and has even pulled off a couple quality victories. With USC struggling to score the ball in the past few weeks, they are going to need to find a way to put more points on the board if they are going to escape this one. Washington State has all the momentum on their side being the underdogs in most games this year, so look for this one to be exciting and close.
Prediction - Washington State
