The Seattle Mariners finished second in the AL East division and have secured the #5 seed in the 2022 AL Playoffs.

They will face off against the #4 seeded Toronto Blue Jays starting Today at 3:07 PM (C) on ESPN in a best of 3 series at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Their final record in the regular season was 90-77, finishing 16 games behind the Houston Astros.



The Toronto Blue Jays are currently the 6th favorite to win the World Series at +2000 odds at the Caesar's Sportsbook in Las Vegas.







HITTING



As a team, the Mariners finished 27th in the league, batting .230 in 2022. In the league, they finished 27th in total hits, 13th with a .705 OPS, 18th in total runs, 16th in RBIs, 3rd in walks, and 9th in HRs on the year.



Julio Rodriguez (CF) hit .284 on the year while appearing in 132 games in the regular season for Seattle. He had 145 hits this year which included 25 doubles, 3 triples, and 28 HRs to go along with a team high 75 RBIs. He had 40 walks on the year and finished with a .854 OPS.



Ty France (1B) hit .276 in 140 games this season. He led the team with 152 hits which included 27 doubles, 1 triple, and 20 HRs on the year. He scored 65 runs and hit 84 RBIs for the Mariners.



Eugenio Suarez (3B) had 128 hits on the year, finishing with a .236 batting average in 150 games. He had 24 doubles, 2 triples, and 31 HRs in 2022. He scored 76 runs and hit a team high 87 RBIs for the Mariners.







PITCHING




The Mariners starting rotation and their bullpen are ranked 8th in the league with a 3.59 team ERA. In the league, they are ranked 12th in total strikeouts, 17th in saves, 11th in hits allowed, and are holding teams to a 10th best .235 batting average on the year.



Luis Castillo (P) had a 4-2 record with 11 starts on the season. He gets the start in Game 1 today. He finished the season with a 3.17 ERA and threw 65.1 innings this year. Costillo had 77 strikeouts on the year and gave up 17 walks to opposing batters.



Logan Gilbert (P) had a 13-6 record this season with a 3.20 ERA. He threw 185.2 innings in 32 starts this year for the Mariners. Gilbert had 175 strikeouts and held opposing batters to a .242 batting average in 2022.



Paul Sewald (P) is the closer for the Mariners and appeared in 65 games for Seattle this season. He finished the year with 20 saves and a 5-4 overall record in 2022. He had a 2.67 ERA with 72 strikeouts while holding batters to a .146 batting average against him.
