Qatar is hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup this year and the host has been the topic of some controversy with sponsorships deals, sales, and accommodations for visiting fans in the early weeks of the tournament. The games run from November 18 through December 20, 2022.
The first World Cup was played in 1930 and was hosted by Uruguay who also went on to win the first Cup beating Argentina 4-2 in the final.
France is defending their World Cup title from their run in 2018. It was their second World Cup title. They opened this year's tournament strong against Australia on Tuesday winning 4-1 in their first match.
Brazil has won the most World Cup trophies with 5, followed by Italy and Germany with 4 each. Brazil is also the only team to qualify for every World Cup.

Monday's game against Wales was Team USA's first World Cup Match since 2014 as they did not qualify for the tournament in 2018.
Their best finish in the World Cup was reaching the Quarterfinals in 2002.

Team USA has 26 players and is led by coach Gregg Berhalter.
Forward Christian Pulisic has the most notoriety of the players, gaining popularity at a young age in the US before moving to England and currently playing for Chelsea. He will be in charge of the offensive attack, either scoring himself or setting up his teammates throughout the tournament. Expect him to play every minute.
Forward Jesus Ferreira will also lead the front line and look to strike or create space for their attack.
Midfielder Brenden Aaronson will make his appearance known for Team USA, as his speed and understanding of the game will help setup some critical opportunities for the team.
Defenseman Tim Ream is the veteran on the team at 35 years old and will be the vocal leader of this team.
Tournament Updates:
Considered one of the tournament favorites, Argentina was upset by Saudi Arabia in their first match 2-1 on Tuesday.
Another upset on Wednesday when Japan won 2-1 against Germany, again a team that many considered one of the tournament favorites this year.
Spain beat Costa Rica 7-0 on Wednesday scoring about every 10 minutes in their match. Costa Rica didn't have a shot on goal all day.
